Capital Groups Opinion about the Chinese Market Volatility

Often, in the stock market, when one country does something volatile, it’s felt around the world.

A spokesperson for Capital Group, Timothy Armour, gave his viewpoint about China’s actions. Considering the six-year bull run America has been on, it’s sparked rising markets in other parts of the world. Every time there’s a market shift doesn’t mean that things are going badly.

What’s really happening most of the time is the market correcting itself. Every time the economy dips below a certain point, the economy adjusts to adapt to the current situation. So when the economy goes back on the rise, the markets make another adjustment, seeming to cause market volatility. Timothy Armour later went on to assure people that periodical market correction is healthy.

Tim also believes that the U.S. economy is not growing as strongly as it could be. Tim hopes that Federal Reserve will start raising the U.S. interest rate soon. Although it may not sound like a good thing, raising the interest rates now actually has long-term benefits. When the interest rates are low, investors tend to take undue risks with no high returns. Higher interest rates direct capital flows to areas where returns are lacking.

Despite what many might think about China’s recent decisions, Tim believes that its actions are just part of an economy transition. China, which was primarily a closed, investment-led economy, is now becoming an open, consumer-lead economy. Before, it was very difficult for individuals to partake in many of China’s investment opportunities.

Since an entire country is changing its economy stance, turbulence is to be expected. Switching from a closed market to an open market will take a lot of time. It’s a very rocky process.

Prepare For Online Marketing Everywhere

We now find ourselves in a new year, and that means new developments in the world of online marketing. You might as well just expect that with each passing year things are going to get more and more complex. This year it is expected that a few new things that were not as prevalent as they were in previous years.

Augmented Reality

The augmented reality game “Pokemon Go” showed us all in 2016 just how one of these games could work and how serious people take them. As such, it is expected that the world of marketing is going to take this approach to what they want to do going forward as well. According to Forbes.com, at the peak of interest in Pokemon Go the game was able to earn up to $10 million in revenue per day.

Even though the clamor for the game has largely died down, the fact that it was able to generate this type of result as quickly as it did gave us all a peak into the future of augmented reality, and online marketers were sure to take note.

Live Streaming Gains Relevance

We saw glimpses into what live streaming can do for certain events. It enhances the event that is being viewed in a lot of ways. Consider for example how the Presidential debates were live streamed on social media websites and a lot of other places as well. This was something that encouraged more people than ever to watch these debates.

Total viewership was in the tens of millions for the first debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. A lot of these viewers were watching on screens that were live streaming the event.

Niche Markets Become More Important

The number of brands continues to grow year after year. Despite this, the attention span of the audience remains the same. Thus, brands must consider where their message will get out to the most people as quickly as possible. If they find niche markets of people who are legitimately interested in the messages that they are pitching to them, then they have accomplished their goal of getting people to pay attention. That is a goal that will become more and more important with each passing year.

Betsy Devos Is Leading A Revolution In Education

A New Day For American Education

The nomination and Senate approval of Betsy Devos has sparked a revolution in education. Our public schools have failed to educate our youth and continue to cater exclusively to the interests of teacher unions. Devos does not believe this is necessary and plans on doing everything she can to change it. She wants to fight to create an education system that allows parents to choose the schools their kids go to and play a more important role in the education their kids receive. This will no longer happen under her watch as the Secretary of Education for the United States of America.

Changing Education In Michigan

A great example of the work of Betsy Devos is easily seen in her home state of Michigan. Public schools in Michigan simply aren’t up to the task of educating children and have left many children without the education they need. In order to combat this Devos has supported school voucher programs in her state. The results of these voucher programs is already evident in the success seen in Detroit. In contrast to the failing public schools of Detroit the children in these programs thrived and actually received better scores than the average for their state.

Restoring Faith In American Education

Faith is an extremely important issue for Devos. She has identified as a Christian for her entire life and she continues to practice her faith. In addition to improving the quality of American education she wants to bring faith back in education as well. The efforts to reduce the role faith plays in the public school has caused harm to American youth and misdirected them. Creating an education policy with a stronger focus on providing them with a stronger sense of faith is a top priority of Betsy Devos.

Answering A Higher Calling

President Donald Trump has chosen Betsy Devos to lead the Department of Education. In her position as Secretary of Education she will oversee the official federal policy regarding education and decide exactly how the American education system around the country will operate. Her plan is to execute policies similar to those she advocated for in Michigan. This means she will most likely push for school choice and voucher programs. These programs were successful in Michigan and they are likely to succeed across the country. The Influence of Kabbalah Center

After the mercurial Madonna had started having an interest in Jewish mysticism, many famous people started joining the trend. Madonna’s involvement in the Jewish tradition was so deep in that she started several Kabbalah centers and invested a lot of funds into the study of ancient Jewish tradition. Hollywood stars that have taken an interest include Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Elizabeth Taylor and the late Marilyn Monroe. The main question behind the interest is why a worldwide celebrity who was born a non-Jew becomes fascinated with the Jewish mysticism to the height of regularly practicing it.

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sandra Bernhard explained that Kabbalah had removed more than eighty percent of chaos in her life. Paris Hilton also explained to the Great Britain’s More Magazine that after she had broken up with Nick Carter, she coped with the experience by going to the Los Angeles Kabbalah center. From the Kabbalah center website, they pride themselves on offering ancient wisdom that offers ways to achieve everlasting joy and self-fulfillment. This is an amazing system that will totally change the way we view life.

Sammy Davis explained to the Time Magazine that he did not join Kabbalah to deal with individual problems but to be part of a five thousand years’ worth of history and to hold on knowledge that is worth more than material wealth. Jews have used their thousands of years of expression and turned it into their strength. In 2006, Madonna narrated to the Time Magazine that the main precepts of the Kabbalah Center are that they were placed on earth to aid people. We are supposed to look for ways in which we can help people. Madonna identified her role by helping spread the presence of Kabbalah to the general public. Several people have ended up converting to Judaism.

Results-driven marketing strategies for online businesses

Digital marketing is one of the fastest and the most money making trends for advertisers today then they were a few years ago. In fact, according to the director of business development at Reptile, Jonathan Laberge, to initiate a data driven or result-driven digital strategy to day is the best possible solution to get a companies numbers up since it is solely based on metrics and analytics from a companies’ website. Additionally, initiating these long-term relationships with a company’s customers or clients can be critical for a result-driven digital strategy, Laberge claims in his Forbes article.

Top tech trends

Likewise, businesses need to be on top of the most advanced technological trends daily, especially if they want to have their customers returning. When consumers want the best product on the market, they are going to go mobile. With smartphones and tablets as two of the most convenient ways to find information, they’ll go to their mobile first.

Interaction; media channeling

With that said, the interaction of various types of “media channels,” it’s best that a company sees to it that they get what their customers are looking for online or on the market. What’s being suggested, in fact, by Laberge of Reptile is to figure out the results of a company’s ads according to the company’s result-driven digital strategies which work to bring in more sales to the company so as nothing will go to ‘waste’ in ad dollars. There was more than $4 billion on marketing and advertising spent on marketing in the past couple of years. It wasn’t result-driven or data-driven marketing which means that marketers world wide went in “blind” and relied strictly on “hits and misses.”

Target and hit; don’t miss

For example, when you efficiently create a target campaign as a result of sales attributions, than you’ll make those sales work for you as a result of various channeling. You’re advertising dollars will tag along with customers. If they go to a music online app store, then you’re targeting those music lovers’ by way of marketing music induced advertisements. Laberge claims in this strategy: “…Track how many people saw your online posts, how many people visited and purchased on your website, and how long a sales resource has spoken on the phone with a potential client…[it’ll] determine how to dictate your money.”

Laberge suggests when ‘you attempt to track your customers or potential clients’ online posts, for instance, you’ll be able to see what is being purchased on your company’s website. This strategy is “who purchased, what they purchased, and the time it took for that customer to get off the phone with your company’s sales reps after he/she purchased. In other words, results is what drives a marketer to advertise according to what the customer wants so there isn’t any time wasted on ads nor money being wasted in the marketing department. Analyzing the website metrics and analytics is key to data driven results.

Finally, knowing this data will be the ‘numbers or sales’ which are important in any marketing plan. And as Laberge suggests, it’ll determine ‘how to invest your money’ into your company’s marketing strategies for your digital online store or business, thereby allowing your employees to fully understand who and what, why and when it’s being sold.

Dr. Shiva Vasishta and His Work with MS Patients

In a new clinical trial, evidence was provided that a new way of treating multiple sclerosis (MS) could be more effective than present therapies. In the trial, high-dose immunosuppressive therapy was performed on the patient and followed with transplanting the patient own blood-forming stem cells back into them. This resulted in the patient experiencing a sustainable remission in the disease, which causes the central nervous system to be attacked by the immune system.

The results of the trial showed that 69& of the participants had survived for the 5 year length of the study with no relapse in their symptoms. None of the patients took any other MS medicines during the study. The trial was sponsored by the National Insitute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Among the symptoms that MS patients experience are chronic pain, weakness, motor and speech difficulties, and fatigue. It is common that people who suffer from the disease will have periods with no to mild symptoms and then experience flare-ups. As the disease progresses the flare-ups tend to occur more often and get more pronounced.

Google in the Dog House; Non-Compliance Issues

Google is ‘the man’ in the Internet-world. The company started it all and continues to

bask in all of its glory as billions of virtual-world surfers enjoy the web and

all that it offers 24/7. As the Internet giant, it is usually Google that dishes out punishments for those non-compliant with rules and regulations, terms of service, and other virtual-world laws. But now it is Google that is wearing the Duntz hat and taking a timeout in the corner.

The Media Rating Council, or MRC, suspended Google for non-compliance issues stemming from the company’s method of counting ad impressions. The suspension was placed against Google DoubleClick for Publishers in September, 2016.

With the suspension, Google is no longer able to offer customers any services that into those categories, putting many customers into a bind as they are now forced to look elsewhere for results. MRC says that they’ll reinstate Google as compliant again in

compliance with the regulations. Google plans to resolve all matters related to

the non-compliance standing by the end of the 2016 year.

Despite the fact that Google is now on the naughty list, it is in no way sign that the

company has turned into one of the bad guys they warned us about for so long. The

non-compliance issues likely stem from a technicality related to the April,

2016, updated guidelines from the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) and the Interactive Advertising Board (IAB) and not misdeed on the part of Google.

Nonetheless the suspension happens at a bad time for Google, just one month after Facebook was found to inflate their video viewing metrics. Consumers are no longer trusting large companies to handle their analytics and measurements due to what seems like an increasing number of violations and misrepresentations.

At a minimum, Google now has a big mess on their hands they must deal with as they restore trust in the increasing number of people losing it by the minute. Only time

will tell how greatly Google will actually be affected by this temporary suspension.

Dippin’ Dots Succeeds with Social Media Defense

What should a company do when its product is attacked on social media? If the company responds, will it merely be highlighting the negativity of the initial attack? If the company does not respond, will be seen as admitting that the attacker is correct? An incident involving Dippin’ Dots, the space-age ice cream treat, is illustrative.

In a recent Forbes article, a representative of The Marketing Zen Group, which represents Dippin’ Dots, told the story. Over the years, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has posted negative comments about Dippin’ Dots on social media. Recently, some of those tweets heated up again online. The company responded with a letter directly from Scott Fischer, the company’s CEO, to Mr. Spicer, which was display on the official Dippin’ Dots website. Within 24 hours, a number of articles had appeared on major news outlets like the Washington Post, resulting in positive media coverage.

Dippin’ Dots managed to turn a negative social media event into a positive one by responding publicly and at a high level. When the White House Press Secretary criticizes your brand, the response should probably come from your CEO, rather than a rank-and-file customer service representative. In other words, the response should be proportionate to the attack. Obviously, not every detractor on Twitter gets a letter from the Dippin’ Dots CEO. Sometimes, however, that sort of high-level response is justified.

It can be exhausting for a company to respond to social media attacks, but, if it is done well, it can also be rewarding. The mistake that some companies make is not engaging. People online are telling your company’s story. Why not take control of the narrative and tell the story you want to tell? That is what Dippin’ Dots did in this situation.

Another lesson is that a social media attack can be an opportunity. A critic’s negative remarks can raise an issue, but the company’s response shows consumers where the company stands.

Fortunately, most companies are not attacked by White House officials on a regular basis, but virtually every major brand faces negativity on-line. How should you respond to such attacks? The Dippin’ Dots incident shows that it is possible to respond in a constructive way and win the battle against detractors.

Scott M. Rocklage Remarkable Career before His Appointment at 5AM Ventures

5AM Ventures is a seed as well as an early stage fund that aims at creating and developing biotechnology companies. The fund is usually sponsored by two among the top life science investment companies, Versant Ventures and Bay City Capital. They are managing more than $1 billion for the fund. It was in the year 2003 when it was announced that the fund had absorbed Scott M. Rocklage Ph.D. as a venture partner. Rocklage has been the CEO of Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since 1994 where he administered its development as well as the approval of Cubicin by the FDA to become an antibiotic treatment. He was also involved in the development of two other pharmaceutical products that were approved by FDA while working at Nycomed Salutar, Inc. as a CEO.

Scott Rocklage is expected to combine efforts with three other investment professionals at 5AM Ventures, Andy Schwab, John Diekman and Carin Mueller. The three founded the firm in the year 2002 just as a spin-out venture in Bay City Capital. Their first year of operation wasn’t a bad start because they managed to invest in six biotechnology companies. These include Ambrx, Kalypsys, Symyx Therapeutics, Celscia Therapeutics, Miikana, and Alexza.

John Diekman said that having Rocklage as an addition to the team was a tremendous achievement to 5AM Ventures in their first year of operation. Referring to his previous achievement in directing the approval of three NDAs and development of infrastructures for drug launches, Diekman believes he is a value addition to their existing business and their futures ventures.

“He has already become an Executive Chairman of Miikana Therapeutics, and we are close to finalizing another similar role in another portfolio company,” John Diekman said.

Dr. Rocklage and his new partners have known each other for over 15 years, and he was excited to join the team of investors and entrepreneurs. He added that he is willing to contribute the experience he gained over the years to ensure that 5AM Ventures grows its portfolio of inspiring biotechnology and innovation.

Dr. Rocklage has served in different pharmaceuticals companies holding executive positions. They include Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Nycomed Salutar, Inc., MDS Proteomics Inc., Nycomed Interventional Inc., Salutar, Inc., Miikana Therapeutics and Catalytica, Inc. Rocklage has also led different teams to raise funds to cater for various pharmaceutical operations such as in the first public offering of Cubist Pharmaceutical and other successful fundraising events. Through this, he has managed to raise over $500 million.

Scott Rocklage is a member of the board of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, affiliates of the Whitehead Institute as well as BIO Emerging Company Section. He graduated from the University of California and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology holding a B.S. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Chemistry respectively. 5AM Ventures has gained a tremendous growth over the years under his control and management.
